Gymnastics. Dance. Cheer.

What is Competitive Cheer?

Competitive Cheer is...

A fast-paced, hybrid combination of stunting, tumbling, jumping, and dancing compacted into a 2 minute 30 second routine. There is no cheering for other teams here, we are the sport! We live to compete.

Competitive Cheer is available to boys and girls ages 3-18.  Our athletes are placed onto teams based on their skill level, which can range from Level 1 Intro to Level 5 Advanced. We teach skills from cartwheels to double fulls; there is a spot for everyone!

Diamond Cheer is a fairly new program in Overland Park, currently competing in its 3rd season. Don't let the newness fool you, we have made a huge impact and created a name for ourselves in the local competitive cheerleading market. Diamond Cheer has doubled in size each year of it's existence, and currently has teams and athletes ages 3-18 levels 1-5.

Our 2011-2012 Competitive Teams:

Tiny Level 1 - Ages 3-5
Mini Level 1 - Ages 6-8
Youth Level 1 - Ages 9-11
Junior Level 4 - Ages 9-14
Senior Level 2 - Ages 8-16

All of our teams only practice 2 days a week, which allows our athletes to gain experiences with other sports and school activities. Team practices include tumbling class, which are taught by a competitive gymnastics coach, ensuring that your child will learn the proper and safe techniques of tumbling. Our teams mostly compete locally, lessening the commitment for the child and their family.

2012-2013 Competitive Team Tryout Information:

   Registrations begin March 1st
   April 15th, 2012 Level 5 Tryouts
   April 22, 2012 Levels 1-4 Tryouts

2012 JEWELS MEET RE-CAP

Trophies from the 10th Annual Jewels Meet

Diamond Academy hosted the 10th Annual Diamond Jewels Invitational Gymnastics Meet, January 20th - 22nd, 2012.  This meet featured Level 1 through Level 10 gymnasts in the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic Program (USAG), Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) & the Kansas City Girls Gymnastics League divisions.  With over 700 gymnasts participating from 25 different Kansas and Missouri teams, this was the largest Gymnastics Competition Diamond has ever hosted.  Dr. Randy Goldstein of KU Med and Wellbody, as well as Doug Wiesner of Sports Rehab, were the attending medical staff.

Diamond Gymnasts finished phenomenally with USAG Level 8's, AAU Pre-Optionals and Level 8's, and KC League Level 3's and Level 4's all placing First in the Team Competitions.  Diamond also had 70 individual-event gold medalists and 24 All Around Gold Medalists!   And, Diamond's very own ACRO Team demonstrated their Balance Routine in front of an audience for the first time!

Congratulations to all the gymnasts who participated and contributed to an amazing performance at our Jewels Meet!
